Two-Way Dual Language Program
Crowley ISD will offer a Two-Way Dual Language Program of English and Spanish instruction for the following students for the 2013-14 school year:

Princeton Review SAT/PSAT Summer Preparation Courses
Princeton Review instructors will be offering SAT/PSAT Summer Preparation Courses in Crowley ISD this summer. Courses will teach students how to approach the test, understand different question types and maximize their score on the SAT/PSAT. In addition, two full-length practice tests will be administered PLUS a refresher class in the fall for CISD students just before the actual SAT/PSAT test.
The courses are to being offered for a reduced rate of $199.

The distinguished honor of District Teachers of the Year will soon be awarded to one elementary and one secondary teacher in Crowley ISD. The recipients will be introduced at the School Board meeting on Thursday, May 30 at 6:30 pm.

Health Science Prodigies
Cara Jones - CHS Senior Mariana Navarro - NCHS Senior Aaliyah Moore - NCHS Senior
Three Health Science students from the Bill R. Johnson CTE Center have been accepted into the Texas Health Resources Youth Prodigy Program. This program creates a fast-track for graduating seniors transitioning from high school to a professional health care career.
More than 300 students apply and only 25 are accepted into the Prodigy program each year. "This program is life-changing for the students and their families, and we are thrilled to be a part of not only shaping their career paths but also serving as their introduction to the field of health care," said Dr. Jim Dunn, Texas Health's chief learning officer.

Seven students representing Crowley ISD's TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) and the Bill R. Johnson CTE Center brought home top awards after attending the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit State Conference and Competition in San Antonio on February 17-19.

- First Place Blue Ribbon: Project Visualize Service Project on Sandy Hook Elementary and school safety

Superintendent's Contract Extended
The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to extend Superintendent Dan Powell's current contract by one year. The 7-0 vote came after the Board completed the Superintendent's annual performance appraisal on February 11, 2013.
Dr. Powell's new contract will expire June 30, 2017.

Grand Opening: TCC Crowley South Campus Center

Crowley ISD is proud to be home to the new Tarrant County College Crowley South Campus Center (TCC CSCC). The CSCC, which celebrated its Grand Opening on Monday, January 7th, occupies the second floor of CISD's Bill R. Johnson Career and Technology Education Center and is projected to serve 1,000 dual credit students and traditional academic transfer, workforce development, developmental education and continuing education students.
CISD students played a big role in the Grand Opening, including involvement from the CISD JROTC Panther Battalion, a combined Crowley and North Crowley high schools ensemble, members of the Crowley High School Marching Band, and CISD students of all ages featured in a video entitled, "Tomorrow Starts Here" about how CISD is preparing them for college.
