CISD is continuing a new series of academic seminars for parents and students this school year. These seminars are designed to help all students plan for academic success.

CHS Debate Team Advances to State
The Crowley High School debate team of senior Kelsey Dodds and sophomore Ben Beyt will be competing at the UIL State Championship Tournament. Kelsey and Ben won second place in cross-examination debate at the District meet in Joshua.

All American Games Nomination
Chelsea Jennings, a senior at North Crowley High School, has been nominated for the 2012 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Games. Chelsea plays guard for the Lady Panthers and has signed a letter of intent to attend Texas A&M and play for the defending national champion Aggies.
 
From the field of nominees, 24 male and 24 female athletes will be chosen to compete in the 2012 McDonald’s All American Games in Chicago.
 
“The McDonald’s All American Games presents the finest opportunity to preview the country’s best up and coming basketball talent,” said Morgan Wootten, McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. “This year’s nominees represent some of the top student-athletes in the country. We are privileged to acknowledge these individuals for their success on the basketball court, in the classroom and in the community.”
 
The final players for the 2012 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Team will be announced on a nationally-televised selection show on ESPNU February 9, 2012.  Read more

Heartbeat Team Award Winner for January
Congratulations to Molly Pittman, the music teacher at Dallas Park Elementary, for winning the January Heartbeat Team Award.

Rodeo Sweetheart
Chelsea Lee, a senior at North Crowley High School, has been chosen Rodeo Sweetheart of the Texas Girls' Choir for 2012. She has been a member of the Texas Girls' Choir for nine years and is in the top choir.

As the 2012 Rodeo Sweetheart, Chelsea will be presented at the Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo on Sunday, January 22.

The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to extend Superintendent Dan Powell's current contract by one year.

The theme for School Board Recognition Month is Helping our Kids Shine. The world can be brighter for all Texas children with the help of our School Board members.

All-State Choir Results
A record number of Crowley ISD choir students have qualified to perform in the All-State Choir. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.

13 All-State Choir students from CISD qualified to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in San Antonio on February 11, 2012.

All-State Band Results
Congratulations to NCHS Band student Christine Frey for being selected to the Texas All-State Band for the second year in a row. Christine plays french horn and will be rehearsing and performing in San Antonio February 8-11, 2012 with the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band.

We also congratulate NCHS Band Student Brandon Robledo for being chosen an Alternate to All-State Band.
