Meet Principal Corn
Roger Corn stepped in as Principal of the Crowley Learning Center in the spring of 2016 after serving as an assistant principal at North Crowley High School. He started his career in education as a science teacher and coach at Marble Falls High School, before serving the same role at Crowley Ninth Grade.Corn received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in 1993 and earned a master's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2004.Why did you choose education as a career?
I like working with students and helping them reach their potential. If a student is inspired by their teachers, they will become life-long learners and more successful in the work force and society.
Why is education important?
An effective educator is successful in empowering students, which is the reason we spend so much time building relationships and developing better practices for the classrooms. Every student needs a positive influence daily. The staff in this profession understand that they should have high expectations for all students.
What do you enjoy most about being the principal of Crowley Learning Center?
It is a small campus with a great staff that builds supportive relationships with all Crowley ISD campuses. The students are given a great opportunity for success at CLC. We've had many graduates from our Bridges program. Those students had a strong work ethic from the minute they got here. That's great to see.
What is your hope for your campus?as a staff to teach/model things that will help them attain their goals. The great thing about the structure of our campus is we have time to offer them enrichment activities that will give them more skills to deal with things they encounter in life outside of school.
My hope is for the students to learn different methods to deal with life issues. It is our responsibility
